We are 6!
Wednesday, February 29, 2012 || 8:37 PM
Yay!! *scream and jumping around like a kid*
6 years ago, a silly boy I met on the mrt asked me to be his gf after I gave him an ultimatum..
6 years on, this silly boy has provided well for our relationship and treats me well :)
Thank you for:
1. Fetching me drinking water when you think I need and when I really need
2. Holding me tight when we are in a crowded place
3. Accommodate my sleeping posture and still find ways to stay close through the night
4. Bear with veg and food bits in between my teeth...
5. Accepting me going out with Thomas so often and not be too upset
6. Thinking of creative ideas to make me lose weight
7. Feed me bite size fruits so my gums dun bleed and I won't choke myself to death ( psychologically )
8. Accompany me to walk the town ( orchard and city hall) almost every weekends
9. Still buy me flowers
10. Wanting to play play station or x box games with me... Even when I think I kinda suck at it
The list is non exhaustive :)
I hope I have been a good part of your life, and continue to be :)
With so much love,
Joey
* I have to thank my mum and dad for allowing me to stay over at his place 4 days a week... And auntie for providing nice meals and accommodation for the past 6 years... It adds up to quite a bit!

"We do not add days to their life, we add life to their days"
It's gonna be a real challenge, even going into the ward can causes teary eyes... I was moved to see how a group of people entering the room can bring so much light into that ah ma's eyes.
It's going to be hard, to let go one by one... I just gonna sort my emotions and keep track of it, I won't give up.. I will do my best to add life to their days :)

Single bridezilla?!
Thursday, February 23, 2012 || 8:56 PM
Read on daily mail some time ago that there is a new species, named 'single bridezilla'.
According to the report, 'Single bridezilla' is the new breed of bride-to-be who are organizing their wedding before they have even got engaged. Before this report comes about, I thought most women would admit that they have been dreaming of their fairytale perfect wedding since they were little girls.... Now suddenly there is this collective term and it sounds really horrible!
Well I for one am not getting married real soon but when I come across a gown that is simply lovely or a wedding photo that is stunning, I sometime make it a point to bookmark it( for the record, I bookmarked alot of stuff so...). ... Okay, my point is, if we are not obsessed and scare our husband to be or bf off, it's alright to day dream a little when you are feeling romantic :)

Her whole heart. Her whole life
|| 6:57 PM
Without much surprise, Serynn is the first amongst us to get married :)
Running a love marathon that spans over 10 years takes more than just stamina, it takes so much love, trust and acceptance along the way to overcome all the ups and down, all the changes as both passes thru the different stages of life.
Seeing her in her rom gown made me realized that she will soon be someone's wife and I was honored to be her gf going thru and preparing for the day to come. She's a dear and deserve the best guy on earth ( all my gf deserves so we need a few best ones), I sure hope that with all our help and blessings, she will enjoy all the moments leading up to her day and Kenny to love her whole heartedly for she has entrusted her whole life of happiness to her.
Babe I love you and no matter you are the wife of which guy, know that Angela and me will be there always:)

Work has been great... No drama for the last week and so we need to call for a celebration!!!
What can be better to celebrate with a 1 for 1 classic manicure at 22 bucks?!
Ok well, girls dun need real reasons to do manicure... Heck my lame excuses of celebration and good bargain... It's simply 爱美!

To fulfill...
Monday, February 20, 2012 || 11:58 PM
It's an incident that I will nv forget... I was maybe in upper primary or lower secondary and my dad was having issues about how I skip meals and save money to buy coffee beans ice blended drinks... It must have hurt him alot cause he teared while scolding me... Telling me, " 我吃到四十多岁都设有喝过这种东西..."
From then I swear that I must let him enjoy whenever I can afford.* It's a small incident, he might have forgotten but I can nv.....
* I know when he said those words, he meant to tell me to spend wisely and not be materialistic... But other than these two msges, I comprehend one other msg which may not be intended.....

Let me be frank...
Friday, February 17, 2012 || 8:55 PM
I think to work in the media industry where sensationalized headlines are developed and dramas are filmed takes quite a bit.... To be honest, there are times I feel I was given a role in dramas scripted and directed by others...
The only part is... I dun really follow the script... Not saying those lines the way it should.
I have always think honesty is the best policy... I like to add honesty is the best but tiring policy that almost drained all my positive spirits...
I like the people who loves drama to leave me and my partner alone.. We spoke no bad words, we merely protect what we have been working real hard for the last 6 months. We play no games and if you look away, you may see someone, who you thought you've given no roles in your drama...
I reflect on myself..... I'm still as proud as 6 months ago.... Of my character :)

Righteous omnivore
|| 11:34 AM
Righteous is my word.
I'm not sure my righteousness was a result of nature or nurture...
Has it got to do with me being a libra or is it to do with I know libra is usually impartial and righteous, so I live it up?
Well either way, I think I'm pretty righteous... And that leads to....situations.... Like becoming a righteous omnivore :/
I have always been a mindless omnivore who desires meat a little more than veggies. The only thing that I was concern was, does it taste good. But after reading Food INC, Righteous Porkchop and Dilemma of a Omnivore.... I can't pretend I do not know..
I can't pretend to not know :
1. The food supply is so industrialized that chicken don't come from farms but from factories..In these factories, the living condition for the animals are terrible and the only interest of the owners is to fatten the animals in the shortest so it fetches good price.
2. Most of what we eat is a variation of corn.... and there are stuff that are not right... go read the books... its a long story and involves a chain of effects... in conclusion.. its bad.. Do you know if they can feed salmon with corn, they will?!
3. Cows do feed on chicken... so i thought cows are herbivores... no?! I'm sure the cows didnt wake up one day and start eating chicken innards (leftover from the slaughtering process)....
4. In America, organic and free range is just a loose terms... the real examples the author cited in the book just doesnt match the two words..
5. If i'm not taking organic food, its very likely that i'm having industrial food which again means i am eating poor animals in very bad rearing condition and slaughter in a very unhygienic manner.....
*all the above applies to America as the books are in their context... but some points above are applicable to Singapore too
I strongly encourage YOU to go read the books.... if you are too lazy and find the book to heavy (which it really is) then at least read the food label and understand the origin of the food you are about to eat. If you even have problem pronouncing the ingredients... maybe you should put it back to the shelves =)
Reading and understand should transcend to something...
I am attempting to
- eat more veg and whole food (unprocessed food)....
- go more on white meat
- avoid corn-fed stuff
- If i can choose, go for free range stuff
- not go full vegetarian (i keep having the thought that i am upsetting the food chain)
- buy and consume with "sustainable" and "humanity" in mind
i hope by doing these, i am making myself healthier and also the environment more sustainable. The animals are not treated right.... and that is sad.

It is a lovely Tuesday which happens to be valentines day
Wednesday, February 15, 2012 || 6:07 PM
Yes... It was v day yesterday and like all 356846890 girls, I was showered with loads of love and a few stalk of flowers:)
I was down with stomach flu but that made Eugene extra nice to me :/ we acted as cupids and sent a bouquet of lovely roses to Elaine and went to the supermarket to get ingredients for our home cook v day dinner. The rest that happened were largely the same as other days... We hug, we kiss, we play game... Oh! The only special thing was I got to stay over on a Tuesday night :)

Gift me a headache
Tuesday, February 14, 2012 || 3:12 PM
After 6 years in a love relationship with the same man, ideas do run out when it comes to celebrations :/
in a year, there are :
1. Valentine's day
2. Anniversary
3. His Birthday
4. My Birthday
5. Christmas
These are the occasions we celebrate and involves gifts to each other.. We used to take it very seriously, all 5! But you see we are real humans who needs to work to earn an living and so first, we do not have the whole world's time to plan the celebration and also the money to get the priciest gift.. Most importantly, we do run out of things to buy!!
So now instead of 1 to 5, we only focus more on 2 to 4. Okay, I mean I demand him to focus more on those occasions :/
If going by average, we have 'gifted' each other (5x6) = 30 presents and to continue doing that for the rest of our lives and not repeat the same present is not an easy feat....so instead of buying and buying the same stuff in the commercial market, and try to instill emotional value.. I make my presents now.
Here's something we did for our love ones this v day, Thomas for kitty, angela for mr b, me for Eugene:)
Thanks shanice for guiding us and helping us to produce these one of a kind v day cards!

The day we celebrate love
|| 2:50 PM
Happy valentine's day!
There are two extreme views on v day, one camp indulge and one scrutinize it...
I think having a day to celebrate love is not a bad thing, people always say if you truly love someone, everyday is v day... BUT I beg to differ. We are all running ard putting our lives together... Working... Resting... Playing.... Working.... Whether it is a routine or challenge, we do not spend much time appreciating love.
Setting aside one day and say " look here! I love you and I will pamper you more today to make up for the time I neglect you.."
Not good?
In my opinion, it is good if you celebrate it from the heart. Gift something nice, some thing homemade or handmade... V day need not be expensive for you to indulge.
I love us:)

dragon year is here ;)
Unlike the last 2 years which i spent the cny eve and day 1 in Singapore, i was back in in Paloh. Many things prompted me to go back and the screaming reason is the fact that mygranny was in her 80s, i dun wanna have to regret missing her eventually.
It was a 2 hours plus drive fromo Singapore.. and i know it is bad to say but with my sis in Japan, the back seat is super spacious and this has got to be the most comfortable ride back...
from city to a small village/town my dad calls home:

since young the idea of heading back to malaysia isnt to attractive as i'm a spoilt city brat. to a younger me... it was 2 to 3 days of dirtier toilet.... lots of mosquito bites and sleeping with no aircon and getting frights from all the fire crackers..
It was in my teenage years that i start to appreciate it a little more, treating every return as a chance to connect with my relative whom i meet once or twice a year.... feasting on the roti-chanai (prata)..but still the infamilarity with the relatives...lack of entertainment is a prob. I still spend lots of time staring at the clock hoping time pass faster with each blink... i took lots of afternon naps hoping time sneaks away..... its really not the problem with the place, its the problem with me and i admit.
this year it is better cause we have WIFI!!
WIFI = ENTERTAINMENT
I can surf the net, i can chat on whatsapp... i can add my cousins on Facebook, i can do video conferencing with my sis who is far away in Japan.... it fees so much better..
Making things better were my niece and nephew... they were new in the family and so i spend lots of time playing with them... they certainly made me feel more at home =)
i am pretty glad i made it back this year.
Not to mention distance made the heart fonder..guess what my baby sent me....

Some other snapshots of my cny:
